Rompetrol Well Services, preventive measures to protect employees

Rompetrol Well Services (RWS) has taken all available measures to protect employees and partners in work areas - wells / drilling sites, amid the expansion of the new COVID-19 virus worldwide. At the same time, the measures are also aimed at reducing the risks of interruption of the operations provided by the company at wells and ensuring continuity of core activities.

So far, none of the Rompetrol Well Services employees have been reported as being at home / in quarantine or suspected of having a COVID-19 infection.

In line with the decisions and plans adopted at the level of KMG International Group - the majority shareholder of the company, Rompetrol Well Services has activated its crisis cell since the beginning of February, developed and implemented a series of preventive measures at the level of employees, common spaces (administrative buildings, work points), flows / allocations of personnel for current activities.

Rompetrol Well Services crisis management plan has 3 major directions of action, depending on the evolution and impact of the virus, these respecting all recommendations and decisions taken by the local and central authorities.

At the moment, the company acts according to the first scenario, which involves taking preventive measures to protect and limit the risk of spreading the virus to employees and other people in work areas.

Besides the measures previously adopted at Group and company levels (electronic signature and invoices, flexible work schedule, work from home, ensuring high-performance electronic equipment and connecting it - VPN, cloud, antivirus), additional, much stricter measures were adopted.

These include limiting / canceling business trips, reintegration upon return from a trip abroad (working from home for at least 7 days after returning from unaffected areas and 14 days after returning from affected areas), limitation of meetings (physical presence of maximum 7 persons) and cancellation of internal events.

Additional measures were taken for work spaces to improve hygiene in common spaces (sanitation / disinfection of the direct contact surfaces every hour, cleaning / washing the floor at least four times a day), ensure sufficient sanitary materials (disinfectants, masks, gloves), disinfection of contact points (doors, gates, taps, railings, etc.), informing the employees about the importance of improving hygiene, behavior and prevention measures.

Other operational measures regarding the movement of personnel to the work areas (only with approval and with a strict travel plan - arrival, departure, routes, intermediate stops, ensuring water reserves and food to avoid social contacts, ensuring sanitary materials), but also of the employees of the cement paste testing laboratory (physical presence only depending on the volume of current activities, compliance with the safety limits imposed by the authorities and the access routes were revised to reduce direct contact between employees) were taken.

Depending on the decisions taken by the local and central authorities, but also on the evolution / impact on employees and operations, Rompetrol Well Services may move to scenario 2 - local special measures or scenario 3 - general special measures.

Scenario 2 takes into account the situation in which an RWS employee is suspected or confirmed to be infected with the new virus. The plan clearly stipulates that the employee and those who have been in contact with him are to be isolated or quarantined, and the area / workshop / work facility to be disinfected by a specialized company, according to the provisions established by the authorities.

In the case of scenario 3, the measures taken at central and local level will be directly reflected in the activity of the company - all current operations will be suspended safely, and the personnel will be sent and isolated at home.

For the protection and safety of its employees, Rompetrol Well Services will continue to adopt other preventive measures and will remain in permanent contact with the local and central authorities for good cooperation in the context of the social changes that have been implemented and which can be modified, depending on the evolution of COVID-19 virus spread in Romania.
