The Rompetrol "Ready for Career" program, in the recruitment and selection phase of candidates

KMG International (Rompetrol) recently launched a series of events aimed at popularizing, among students, the start of the recruitment and selection process for the XXII edition of the "Ready for Career" Internship program, in which over 100 youngsters will participate.

Thus, the ones who want to be part of one of the most successful Internship programs in the industry, found out, this month, more about Rompetrol's activities and took part in company presentations and the "Biblioteca Vie" workshop, during which they had the opportunity to communicate with our experts.

"Rompetrol has always been close to the community and to young people who want to pursue a career in one of the most complex industries in Romania, through this program that started in 2001 and through which over 1,500 pupils and students were prepared to work in KMG International Group refineries and support companies. This year, we will have over 100 interns, who for two months will learn from our specialists everything necessary to take the first steps in the field of energy", said Nicoleta Mihăiţă, Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding Manager at KMG International (Rompetrol).

The promotion of this year's program began with the participation in the forum "Career in the Energy Industry", organized at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest. Also, the company's representatives organized the "Rompetrol Day" in the "Ovidius" Universities in Constanţa, respectively the University of Oil and Gas in Ploieşti. The promotion will end with the Black Sea Student Symphosium International Conference at the Faculty of Petroleum and Gas Engineering.

This year, the main objective of the "Ready for Career" program is to attract students in the final year or pursuing a master's degree in the field, with employment potential for the current year and next year, respectively.

Those who qualify for the Internship, scheduled for August-September, will benefit from a paid employment contract and meal vouchers, and their participation will be certified through Leaders Explore, a programme designed to improve soft-skills such as self-knowledge, communication, personal branding, teamwork, leadership, etc.

Last but not least, the youngsters will interact directly with dozens of specialists from the Petromidia refinery, the Vega Ploieşti refinery, but also from member companies of the KMGI Group (Rompetrol) - Rominserv, Rompetrol Energy, Rompetrol Well Services, Midia Marine Terminal and Rompetrol Quality Control. They will have the role of mentors and will hold theoretical and practical courses with selected interns.

From the 2021 internship series, a total of 27 youngsters have been hired and work in the Group's companies. In fact, since the first edition of the program and until now, hundreds of interns have had the opportunity to work in the Petromidia, Vega refineries and other member companies. Many of them have held important positions in various departments.

"The Internship is one of the most important programs developed by Rompetrol. Through this, the company can select future specialists and even managers that can perform, and students have the opportunity to combine the theoretical knowledge gained with the practical ones, applicable in refinery facilities. The importance of the Internship program, which ensures a transfer between generations, lies in the fact that, beyond modernization, digitization and optimization, the most important resource is the human one", said Cristian Bolohan, QHSE Manager at Rompetrol Rafinare.

"I was involved in complex projects that took me out of my comfort zone, which helped me learn, evolve and reach my potential. The 21 years of Petromidia can be translated into development, inner strength, balance and passion. I want the young interns to get involved with enthusiasm and realize that the secret behind any success is courage, perseverance and a lot of work", added Raluca Lainer, Production Planning and Optimization Manager at Rompetrol Rafinare.

Rompetrol Rafinare is one of the most important employers in the region, but also one of the largest contributors to Romania's state budget. In 2022, the company planned a total processing of about 5.6 million tons of raw materials, with about 5.3 million tons of petroleum products.
